What Is lagom?
At Lagom Counseling, I help clients find that balance in their relationships, emotions, and everyday life.
/LAH-gom/ is a Swedish concept that means “just the right amount.” It represents a sense of balance, moderation, and intentional living: not too much, not too little. A place where life feels sustainable and aligned.
In Swedish culture, lagom is more than a word; it’s a philosophy. It encourages balance over extremes, authenticity over perfectionism, and contentment over constant striving. It’s about making choices that support well-being rather than overwhelm.

Find balance, growth & connection.
Individual Therapy
Lagom Counseling Services provides counseling services to individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-estem challenges, and complex trauma. We help clients untangle long-standing patterns that were once necessary for survival but now hinder their ability to feel connected, secure, and fully themselves. Our treatment is trauma-informed, collaborative, and gentle. We prioritize creating a space where your nervous system can settle, your story can unfold safely, and your strengths can emerge with clarity.
Couples Counseling
Lagom Counseling Services works extensively with couples who feel disconnected, stuck in repeating dynamics, or unsure how to move forward. Trained in both Gottman Theory (Level 2 Certified) and Emotional Focused Therapy, we work with partners to understand the emotional needs and attachment patterns underlying their conflicts so they can communicate more openly, repair trust, and create a healthier, more resilient connection.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THERAPY
Healing happens in the context of safe, genuine connection. My work is rooted in a psychodynamic and relational approach, which means I pay attention not only to the challenges you’re facing today but also to the deeper patterns, experiences, and relationships that have shaped your inner world. Together, we explore how past wounds, protective strategies, and unspoken emotions influence the life you’re living now — always at a pace that feels respectful and grounded.
I work with individuals & couples who are navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the feeling of being “stuck.” In our sessions, you can expect a supportive, non-judgmental space where your story matters and your pace is honored. Together, we’ll explore what’s getting in the way, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that help you move toward the life you want.
Whether we’re exploring individual struggles or navigating a relationship together, my style is warm, collaborative, reflective, and deeply attuned. I don’t rush the process — instead, I meet you where you are, honoring your pace while helping you move toward meaningful, sustainable change. My goal is to help you develop insight, strengthen your inner resources, and feel more grounded and connected in your everyday life.
I also strive to be an ally. I recognize that we are shaped not only by our past but also by all the various identities we hold. I want to hold space for all parts of you to feel seen and valued.
If you’re ready to begin this work, I’m here to walk with you — with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to your growth.
ABOUT ME
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). My training focuses on understanding people within the context of their relationships, life experiences, and emotional histories — not just symptoms or diagnoses.
Beyond formal education, Erin believes becoming a good therapist is an ongoing process. She continues to learn through supervision, consultation, and continued training so she can show up fully present, thoughtful, and attuned. Erin’s goal for each session is to offer care that feels grounded, collaborative, and genuinely supportive.
Outside of sessions, Erin enjoys spending time with family, being outside, and baking for loved ones.
